Handy!

Im a college student and needed a little something for my dorm to keep it clean. I've never bought a vacuum before so I was timid about it because of that. I must say that I am absolutely pleased and I use it whenever I get the chance :) cleans the entire floor with great power, and gets to those nooks and crannies that normal sized vacuums can't.I would have liked to know if the filter needed replacing at any point in use but that was easily remedied when I received the product. It can be replaced but it looks like it can also be washed. Overall, the perfect dorm vacuum.

Good at what it does!

In looking at a hand vacuum, I'm generally interested in three criteria:1. Is it powerful enough?2. Is it easy to charge?3. Is it easy to empty?The answer to all three has been yes.1. The Dirt Devil Express V6 has picked up everything I've needed it to, even stray bits of exceptionally light styrofoam floaties that are virtually impossible to pick up by hand and are difficult for some hand vacs to capture as well.2. Unlike handvacs I've had in the past that rest on obnoxious charger stands with poor charging contacts, the power cord plugs right into the handle of the Express V6, creating less clutter and a more efficient charge.3. The Express V6 empties in two simple steps. It doesn't hold a lot, but emptying is so effortless that it really doesn't matter.I don't consider myself a handvac expert, but the Express V6 has met all of my needs with ease. I'm quite happy with it.

Very little suction power, very limited usefulness.

I bought this to use in spaces where my broomstick vac will not fit, and to use in the car. It has so very little suction power that I cannot use it in the car. It will vacuum small grains of sand, tiny flakes and specks, but that is it. It does not come with a charging stand, so you plug it in to the charger cord in the same way you would a cell phone or other electronic device. I found it a bit of a challenge to find a suitable location to use for charging it. The dirt cup is very, very small and the filter is flimsy. Empty it often.On the positive side, it does reach small crevices with the flip out nozzle. It is easy to empty the dirt cup.If I had it to do over, I would not purchase this item.

For all that your upright ain't built for!

This vac is powerful and versatile. If you are unlike a prior reviewer and place the strap over your head so that the strap crosses your chest, you know like a normal person, then this thing carries like a champ and cannot crash to the floor, geez!. I'm 6'3" and I do not pretend it's a floor substitute. I have a bad back so I can't even pretend to kid myself. It's fabulous to carry around for all the oddball vac jobs like blinds, dusting, any area unreachable with a floor machine, behind the whatnot shelf or frig. Vac your bedding and your furniture with ease and power. There's a tool for everything, including the floor. The floor tool is there if you have a quickie job and do not want to haul out the upright...ok? The extender tube is smoothly notched every two inches so can be easily shortened or extended from 18 to 32 inches in mere seconds. The flex-tube is very sturdy & flexible, almost like a real slinky. It's great! I highly recommend this machine. IT'S NOT AN UPRIGHT SUBSTITUTE!

Very irritated!

I am very unhappy with my Ultimate Handheld Vac. The power is wonderful, but the design of the vacuum is terrible. The plastic hose is too short and I had to order an extra piece. For any one who is tall or has a bad back, this is not the proper length. I can deal with that and the new extension I had to order. My major complaint is the design. The balance is off, the strap is too short and if you put it criss cross over your shoulder, it chokes you. If you just put it over your arm, it tends to fall off and crash to the floor. The area where the accordian hose attaches to the plastic tubing needs an elbow joint. The accordian hose bends too much and is in danger splitting at some point. If I hold my hand over that area to protect it, it pinches my hand. I am just so irritated with it all. The pick up is wonderful.

Good piece, but depends on what you want it for.

This vacuum works GREAT on pet hair! I use it on my couches, chairs and throw pillows. It is also good for dusting in high places. I agree with the other review that the hose it too short, but that is ONLY if you are trying to use it to vacuum your floors. If you do want it for the floors you should purchase the extra hose...unless you are under 5 feet! That said, the main reason that I deducted a star is due to the noise. My upright Oreck is so nice and quiet, but this canister is LOUD! Anyone purchasing this one needs to have ear plugs. Not a huge deal, but it would be nice if ear protection was not mandatory.

Great Vacuum

This is a really nice vacuum! It seems like they market this for the "auto" however it can do so much more. Comes with different attachments depending on what you want to use it for. It's very small, yet has a lot of power. The actual "hose" is long enough to allow you to put the vacuum down and reach places. However as I said the vacuum is small and light. The on/off switch is a red rotating button on the front of the handle (you can see it in the picture).It's easy to empty the dirt from inside. Just push the button and off it comes. However I'd advise doing that outside as depending on what you have inside, you may end up getting the house dirty again!What I like about this is it's small enough to put just about anywhere. And As most of us do, we snack in the room watching TV. Crumbs get all over. This is small enough to pull out and do a quick vacuum job on the chair, etc.Keep in mind this is NOT what you would want to vacuum the floors of your house. It's for small jobs, the auto, etc.Also it comes with a long electric cord. And a wrap for the cord when not in use.Bissell has a really nice product here.

My New Buddy?

This corded hand-held vacuum does the job-it picks up debris quickly with little hassle. I love the 18 ft. long power cord. The length is perfect. When I'm on a "roll" cleaning, it gives me enough freedom to do several jobs before having to quit. It's somewhat heavier than I am used to for a hand-held vacuum, but those with relatively strong wrists should not have a problem.The on/off switch is a simple red button on the tip of the upward curved handle. It's easy to turn on and doesn't get in the way. I appreciate that I only have to hold this vacuum instead of squeezing some trigger mechanism to keep it on.The motor is on the loud side, giving you the impression that it's very powerful, however the suction isn't as strong as another significantly more expensive hand-held vacuum (different brand) I've bought in the past. Although my other hand vac has stronger suction, the thing is always running out of power when I need it most. I like having continual power with this Bissell, so even if I may have to go over crumbs more than once, the job will get done quickly.The filter is good, but you must take care that you don't wash or get the folded part wet (as explained in the directions). Ideally, I would have liked to see that component be entirely washable. Instead, you can hit it against the wastebasket to knock off the accumulated dirt (also described in directions).The flexible rubber contour attachment is by far my favorite-it elevates this machine to the "exceptional" category, in my book. The attachment enables this Bissell to actually do something that the pricier vacuums I've purchased (both big and small) can't handle...It revitalizes the worn areas of my carpet. WoW! This a noticeable improvement.****Update:Had to drop review 2 stars when I discovered that the "flexible contour attachment" disintegrates while using, so it cannot bear heavy use (necessary for homes with pets and/or children). Everything seemed okay until after one vacuum my son happened to look down at the underside of the attachment. The rubbery bristles were reduced to tiny nubs!That attachment was my favorite part of this hand-held vacuum...what a bummer.

Powerful little vacuum, with a downside...

This is a great little vacuum for the money -- plenty of power, two types of attachments, and a long cord. Bissell has a well-earned reputation for quality and the Auto-Mate Hand Held Vacuum is no exception. I used it indoors on cereal spills and the feathers that seem to fly off my parakeet and of course on the upholstery. I haven't used in my husband's truck yet -- I'll need an extension cord for that, which leads to The Downside: it has a cord, it isn't rechargeable, and there is no convenient "wall mount" feature to tuck it away when not in use.

Great for on the go!

Such a great vacuum for traveling! I use this a lot for visiting families when I need to quickly clean up before leaving. It has been tested on couches, drapes, steps, car mats/cargo area, air vents, picture frames, lamps and most other hard to reach areas all in one charge with plenty of power to been able to kept going further. It's light, less than 4 pounds and really easy to charge, clean and empty. To empty, remove attachment, then press the grey button on top (next to the power button), the purple portion of the container then slides out and can be dumped. the inside filter can then be cleaned (or not), slide compartment back and continue vacuuming or place it back on the charger. Unless you have multiple animals or have the privilege to own a big-time shedder, one dump is pretty much all you will need to do for most jobs. This model comes with 3 separate attachments, for crevice, dusting and a rotating vacuum brush. Charger can be mounted on the wall or placed upon the floor or table. The brushes fit inside the charger for easy organization. Absolutely prefer this to my full size vacuum any day.

Really nice with allot of power.

First I must say I received this Eureka RapidClean Pet Cordless Handheld Vacuum, 80A free as part of amazon.com's VINE program witch his designed to create reviews. This vacuum works very well it has a lot of power (suction), and is good for small pickups and touch ups (Dust, Dirt, Pet Hair on furniture Etc.,). Its fantastic for clearing inside the car, no cords to worry about. It comes with a very good rechargeable battery that gives you pretty long use. Also you can mount this on a wall out of the way. I can recommend it.

Imperfect, but is priced fairly and works well enough for simple clean-up jobs

"Eureka RapidClean Pet Cordless Handheld Vacuum" works well enough for simple clean-up vac jobs, such as pet hair, food crumbs and dusty curtains, and it isn't too noisy for its size.Some caveats. The machine is bigger than I would have liked, especially when you factor in the huge rechargeable base it comes with, while the build feels somewhat cheap.Speaking of rechargeable bases, it can get a bit tricky when attempting to situate the hand-vac in the charger; if you're not careful, you can easily mistake the machine for being plugged in when it's actually not, leading to a dead handheld vac when you need it most. In fact, I suspect that it's this issue which is the culprit for some people's complaints about the machine's poor battery life (hint: always pay attention to whether the blue charging light indicator is active when plugged in).Furthermore, I find the attachments underwhelming, as I felt they could have been designed to extend a bit further out in order to compensate for the awkward design of its mouth, which is flat and extremely broad; this would make life a lot easier for those looking to minimize the action of bending down when performing floor clean-ups.Finally, while it functions respectably as a handheld vac, it isn't all that powerful, as this thing can't hold a candle to my corded handheld vac in the power department.Still, despite all of my caveats, it works well enough, and the price is not unreasonable for what you get. Overall, recommended (with some reservations).

I had an old Black and Decker car vac. that died after 20 years of use. That one was a great one. This one is turning out to a good one also. I hope it lasts that long. The extra tools help car vacuuming easier.

Not what I expected ...

I bought this little gem (stainless steel to last longer) in March, 2010, to clean my new car. I checked ratings and found it rated higher than most, so I bought it - wanted something better than the rechargeable ones. I have only used it twice because of health issues but I am really, really disappointed. Suction isn't what I was expecting - really have to work hard at getting it to pick up most bits on my car's interior. Also, the attachments keep falling off. I think I'll just (pardon the pun) suck up the loss and buy something else ... this one's too much of a challenge to use and much too frustrating!

Not Enough Power

For $25, this isn't too bad. What I mainly don't like is that it doesn't have very much power. The other reviewers claim it has enough power and maybe I got a bad unit but as a wet vac this one is completely worthless...it doesn't pick up water. Not only that but the squeegee attachment is worthless as well as it doesn't stay in. The other issue I have is that trying to get the canister back on to the vac after emptying is a serious challenge. Its going back and I'll spend the money on a better unit.

Great affordable hand vac

I picked this up at Wal-Mart last week to use in our car and to clean up my 1-year-old's mealtime messes. For those purposes, it's been a lifesaver! I've browsed several more expensive cordless vacuums so I was worried a cheaper one wouldn't be powerful enough, but it has definitely done the trick. It picks up everything she's thrown at it including fruit, ravioli, noodles, sauce, and juice. My only complaint would be that the one I got didn't come with the mounting plate; also, I've only used it for a few minutes at a time so I don't know how long the battery charge lasts.

Good for the price

I have a hardwood floor house and I thought it would not be essential a regular vaccum. I bought this one for minor uses as cleaning after my kids mess, cleaning the sofa, my car, etc. I normally use it for dry litter. It's very light, I wish the battery last longer but it's ok and the cordless feature was a plus for me. In general it is a good product for minor household use.

The Dustbuster Has Evolved... sort of...

It's been many years since I've owned a Dustbuster type of handheld vacuum, largely because every one I've used had limited battery life, and wasn't good at picking up all but the lightest debris.I thought I'd give the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser a shot, hoping that the handheld technology has evolved, and that something -- anything -- could make living with a Shepherd and Pointer easier.Out of the box, I immediately noticed how the pink rubber tip on the end of the vacuum looked and felt a lot like the brush I use on my short-haired Pointer. Holding back the urge to vacuum my dog, I decided to read the instructions, telling me I needed to put it on the charger for 18 hours before I vacuumed anything. Dutifully, I put it on the charger, but noted that the design of the charger base REALLY expects you to mount it to a wall. I wasn't sure I was ready for that sort of commitment, but it worked fine left on my floor.The next day, it was time to start erasing pet hair. The first few minutes were brilliant. It seemed this was going to be a perfect way to get my furniture and stairs vacuumed without lugging around my upright and dealing with the attachments. But, things started going downhill. The pink grabber thing seemed to bring short hair up, but didn't consistently make it to the actual vacuum. Not a huge deal until I emptied out the bin and noticed how quickly the filter had changed color.Unfortunately, the filters aren't washable, so in just under two weeks, the Pet Hair Eraser went from "awesome" to "dumb 80's Dustbuster". If I had been using this for hours on end, or if my house was particularly dirty and dusty, I'd totally understand. After all, filters don't last forever. But the performance absolutely tanks if the filter is dirty, and replacement filters (P/N 52H6) aren't all that cheap when they need to be replaced so often.Personally, I see this as a design problem. If the Pet Hair Eraser had been designed to pick up your kid's spilled Cheerios, I wouldn't rate it so harshly. But when it's advertised as a product to deal with debris that's inherently dirty, I don't understand why they wouldn't put a washable prefilter before the cotton-like filter. At this rate, I'm likely to spend more money in filters than the MSRP of the Pet Hair Eraser in under a year. At that kind of money, I almost start to wonder how long it would take before I'd come out ahead getting a refurbished Dyson DC31 Handheld Animal Vacuum Cleaner.

This? Is AWESOME!

If you are a pet owner, you need the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser...no doubt about it. I own one of the Dyson animal vacuums, which is great, but even the many attachments don't do a good job of getting cat hair off the furniture. I usually have to go over my couch with one of those lint rollers, which is a huge pain and still doesn't work all that well.Enter the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser. I don't know what it is about this thing, but WOW, does it work! I was amazed (and somewhat disgusted) by the amount of cat hair it sucked off my couch in the first few seconds alone. In fact, I believe that if I turned this hand vac on and pointed it directly at my cat, it would suck her up whole. It really is that good. The cordless feature and easy cleaning mechanisms make this an even more valuable product. I highly recommend this to all pet owners who would like their furniture to be fur-free!

Powerful and quiet....

Summary: A good choice for general cleanup, rubberized nozzle helps get hair out of crevices in upholstery.With 2 cats and 3 girls in the house, there's an abundance of hair mixed in with all the other detritus hardwood floors collect. The nubby rubberized nozzle is the same material that the cat hair brushes in the store are made of. It helps lift cat hair out of chair cushions and the like. As soon as this was charged up I went to the basement where the cats sleep and quickly dislodged and vacuumed off their sleeping pad.Like the pet hair cleaners, it really helps to brush the material in a few directions or make small circles as you vacuum.With 12 volts of power it definitely beat out most of our older dustbusters. It's not quite as powerful as our current Black & Decker Pivot Vac 18V Cordless Pivoting Hand Vac, PHV1810 but it's lighter and *much* quieter.
