5Best Hand Held Vacuum I've Ever Owned
By Susan K. O'brien
I ordered this online and as with all Internet purchases, I was a little nervous about whether I'd like it. It's absolutely superb! The suction is so strong is is close to that of my expensive Miele. I love all the attachments---three brushes, no less, large medium and tiny, and one attachment to go into very narrow spots. I never found this little gem in a store. But I knew that Fuller makes great products. And that the store vacs were almost all more expensive and didn't include attachments. It's cute, too! Five stars, no disappointments! SK.

5Does the job!
By Jen
I got one of these for Christmas and I love it. Great for small jobs (picking up litter, hair, dust). We've even used it in our cars. Charging is convenient, too. No bulky cradle to worry about mounting on the wall, there is just a plug. Also, I was happy to see that replacement filters were available both from Black and Decker AND Amazon should I need them.

1You get what you pay for.
By KG
I bought this for the little things, and for that it works- as long as it doesn't take you more than about 3-4 minutes to clean up. The battery on this thing sucks. It takes a long time to get a full charge and a full charge means only about 4 minutes of battery usage.Save yourself the frustration and spend the extra few dollars to get a higher quality vacuum.

5What a 'buster!
By Lainee
I was looking for something small to put near our litterpan since the cats track the clay out of the box when exiting. I found this vacuum at a fair price and decided to give it a try. It does a perfect job! I owned the original model when it first came out years ago. This one is more streamlined and improved. The Dustbuster is the right choice for little cleanups.

4Still a great hand vac!
By Joanne Reynolds
I bought a Dirt Devil hand vac in the early 1980's because the carpet salesman where I bought my new carpet told me it would be far superior for use on stairs than the attachment that came with my upright (Rainbow) vacuum cleaner. He was right and I also loved that hand vac for cleaning my upholstered furniture. I bought a Dyson Animal vacuum cleaner last year and I wish I could say that the upholstery attachment sucks, but it doesn't, and it is hard to put on and take off of the hose. I like the Dyson for my carpets but am not at all impressed with their attachments. So, today I bought this Dirt Devil Classic and it is great! I read the reviews here and others were complaining about some of the other models. This hand vac has a belt and the belt can be replaced. The owner of the vac shop told me the difference between the models that are receiving the complaints here and the Classic 0100 that I bought today is that the others are air driven and mine is belt driven and that's why the other models' brushes stop moving when you touch the vac to either your upholstered furniture or your carpet. I paid $49.95 for mine, $10 more than listed on Amazon but I got it today instead of next week. I can't say enough good things about Amazon and their quick service, though, and I do buy a lot from Amazon. So, if anyone else, like me, is reading these reviews prior to purchasing a new Dirt Devil hand vac, please buy a belt driven model and not an air driven one. You won't be sorry. You may pay more but it will be worth it. I gave only 4 stars instead of 5 because it is really noisy!

5Much better than the old model!
By K. Seitz
I purchased this vacuum ($40+tax at Best Buy) to replace my old red Dirt Devil with the bag and onboard tools. The tools on my old one were constantly falling off while I was vacuuming. This new model is a HUGE improvement! The suction is amazing! I used it on our carpeted stairs that I just had steam cleaned last week and was surprised at all the junk it sucked up. The clear dirt cup is much better than the disposable bags and emptying it is a breeze. I like how the tools attach and the crevice tool seemed to work well. The cord is long enough to vacuum the entire stairway and then some. I would recommend this vaccum to anyone who is tired of lugging their upright up and down the stairs!

2I thought I liked it, but then...
By luvmypets
I started out liking this machine, despite being not so fond of our former Dirt Devil "screamer" with the ridiculous belt changing routine. The problems with this machine are: try cleaning the pleated filter (good luck!) and the exhaust blowing out the sides and then slightly downward blows around what you're trying to vacuum up. I am really surprised no one else has mentioned these two issues (except for one person who mentioned the filter). After just one use, I had to knock the pleated filter against the trash can to loosen and remove the dirt--no go. So what are the options? Leave the dirt in there to continually clog it, and then be forced to go buy a new one for $5.99? I honestly think this was the goal of Dirt Devil, just to make an extra buck. And if you're trying to vacuum up pet hair, and anything light weight, watch it blow around from the exhaust as you go chasing it with the vacuum (utterly futile). It's on the loud side too. It IS powerful, but in the wrong way--the goal is vacuum up the debris, not blow it around your house.

3So far so good...
By Kee
After an issue with our Shark pet hand vac not being able to charge anymore, we found this. I am not particularly fond of the color red in general and we all know DD's are a very bright, blinding red. I have used it before the 24 hour charge period, and naturally it began to die on me. Why its not almost fully charged already concerns me, to say the least. I do not recall receiving the brush attachment with the product.Pros:It seems to pick up nicely and have good suction power for the price. The filter is washable and so is the dirt cup.The charging port is on the back of the handle, not on the underside like other products.. This is much more convenient.__________________________________________________Cons:Takes a long time to chargeThe dirt cup is small, but this isn't really a big deal for me because when I'm cleaning I always keep a large trash can or trash bag with me at all times and can empty it frequently. This could however, be a problem for others. The bright red color is hideous, but that's what Dirt Devil makes their products in.That gray tight corners tool that comes out doesn't stay out. You have to manually hold it out or it will pop back in for no reason. I don't particularly like the fact that this tool is put in there like that.. Its very inconvenient when you're cleaning and it goes in and out, in and out.The top that you empty by pressing the two silver side buttons doesn't always latch down and it happened to open mid cleaning and spill its contents all over the stairs on me.. Nice. Its big and bulky and definitely not user friendly. I prefer the skinnier vacuums.

5Great for a small apartment!
By Cookie
Is a great supplement to a vacuum cleaner. For all those times when i dont feel like lugging out the full size vacuum cleaner this is a quick and easy way to clean up crumbs, hair, dust balls, etc...a quick mid week cleaning. It does NOT replace the vacuum cleaner but i find that i use it almost daily to quickly zap up any obvious messiness and therefore find the weekly vacuum clean much less daunting because the house has been kept pretty clean all week. Battery life is acceptable to me but maybe I just have realistic expectations...last about 15 mins at full power id say.

3my pros and cons of dirt devil BD10165 GATOR HAND VAC
By susan c
this is a good hand vac. i like the brush that comes with it. the only problem is after about five min. of use you have less suction power. at that time not only do you have to empty it, but you have to empty the filter in order for full suction to return. which means taking the whole thing apart in order to restore suction. but it is good carpet since it has the brush.

2Didn't live up to the Dyson name - comparison with Black & Decker Flex fvh1200 hand held vac
By LizardLips
Dyson DC 34 handheld vs Black and Decker Flex fvh1200 handheldPurpose of purchase: Clean cat litter around cat box, cat hair on chairs, occasional spills; some dusting (ceiling fans, behind TV's). Also, we needed cordless vac to take out to the parking lot to clean the cars.I asked Santa for the Dyson handheld as a Christmas gift because we have a Dyson canister vac that we bought back in 2006 that really impressed us with how well it worked. It remains the best vacuum we've ever owned, but it cost a pretty penny - $500 at the time. However, it just really blew us away performance-wise, and proved the old adage of getting what one pays for.Based on that experience, and because we were disgruntled with the performance of our ancient, messy, corded handvac, we decided that dishing out the big bucks on a Dyson hand vac would be the way to go. On Christmas morning, I opened up the Dyson, turned it on and went about cleaning everything in the living room but was disappointed with the lack of "wow factor": It seemed sort of average, and certainly didn't live up to my expectations. So, I went onto Amazon to do more research, putting a lot of thought into what I'd be using it for; and decided to pick up and try out the B&D model before making any hasty decision to return the Dyson.Having the two units at home, I tested them both over the next two days on my ceiling fan, around the cat box, kitchen drawers, etc. - often simultaneously using them side by side, switching hands frequently so as not to favor one particular vacuum. When done, I emptied the contents of each onto a piece of paper to examine the quantity of contents the dust bins. I was shocked by how much more debris was in the B&D and can only surmise that it was due to the inferior physical design of the Dyson (the angle issue -see below) in re. to how well it made contact with the surfaces that I'd been attempting to clean. Also, the B&D came with a nifty pet hair cleaning attachment, which I used on one half of a cat-hair-covered chair (using the Dyson with it's normal attachments for the other) and, in general, there were many areas in different rooms that I simply couldn't reach with the Dyson that I could with the B&D due to its elongated, flexible wand.Cost: Dyson handheld - $176 (obviously a great bargain) at Best Buy; B&D Flex, $56 at Walmart. Each was priced at about half off the original MSRP.Battery Life: Much longer on Dyson (about twice as long)Charge time: Much faster on Dyson (3 hours vs. 20 hours)Design: Dyson looks cooler but functionally, the design of the B&D model made it more effective at getting into tight spots. Also, even though the Dyson weighs in at only 2.92 lbs, and the B&D weighs about a lb to 1.5 lbs more (I couldn't find actual weight and when comparing specs on Amazon/Internet - Dyson lists actual unit weight and B&D lists shipping weight) due to the angle in which one needs to hold the Dyson in relation to the object being cleaned, AND the fact that one must always push the "on" button on the Dyson where it is gripped ( a power saving but at times annoying feature) it was actually much more tiring to use the Dyson -and I'm a total wimp who initially was excited about the lighter weight of the Dyson, and almost didn't do this experiment after realizing that most of the other hand vacs out there weigh considerably more than the Dyson.Performance: Due to the difficulty in getting the angle right while holding the Dyson, even though it obviously had more suction power than the B&D model, as proven by oh-so scientifically attaching to each vac to the palm my hands then trying to lift them off the ground via suction power, I found that I was able to clean up more dirt with the B&D. That really surprised me because, at best, I expected them to clean up about the same amount, but actually went into the experiment assuming the Dyson would outperform the cheaper model. When trying to clean my ceiling fan, the awkward position of the Dyson made it so that it offered no benefit over lugging out my canister vac. But due to the flexibility of the hose on the B&D, I was able to clean in all of its nooks and crannies. Both units have a two year warranty. My previous experience with Dyson's customer service was excellent (on my canister vac) while previous experience with B&D (many years ago for a power tool) was just so-so, maybe a little frustrating if memory serves. I'm a little concerned about the poor customer service reviewers have noted with Black and Decker models, but even still, I expect that if anything goes wrong with the B&D, I can get them to honor their warranty, even if it isn't a terrific experience. We're returning the Dyson because, for our particular needs, the B&D worked just as well or better, and cost a whopping $120 less! There is just no way to justify that kind of cost discrepancy. So, for all of you out there who wish you could afford the Dyson, but actually only have $60, don't feel like you're losing out. There may be some aspects of the Dyson that are nicer (longer battery life, shorter charge time) but for cleaning around the cat box and under the car seats, the $56 B&D model more than met our needs. If each of the units had cost the exact same amount, I'd probably give each of them 4 stars. However, since money is important to me, Dyson gets two stars for its awkward-to-hold design, and for overpricing the unit, while the B&D gets 5 stars for being such a bargain in comparison - and, of course, easier to use.As a last thought, if my needs were different - i.e., I needed to get out the hand vac several times a day to use for 20 minutes or more each time and had a very specific purpose for it, I *MAY* have gone with the Dyson, especially if pet hair wasn't an issue.

14 minutes to vacuum my steps
By Jeffrey S. Gutkind
I received this Dyson for a birthday present from my wife. Love the idea, but does not live up to the Dyson reputation. Good suction, however we purchased this vacuum so I can vacuum my steps easily without running up and down with a plug. Well I got to about my 3rd step and the vacuum flashes a light which means it is almost our of batteries. I thought that was weird. I then plugged it in overnight and tried again this morning. Same thing happened. I tried a third time and the full charge only lasted 3:50 seconds until it was totally out of juice. It says 6 minutes on high, which seems too short as well, but under 4 minutes is just a sad story. We do have another pet vacuum from Dyson that we absolutely love. Well worth every penny we spent for it. This one goes back as it does not live up to the Dyson quality...

5Love this little one!!!
By BellaItaly
I absolutely love this little vacuum!!! It is great for the high chair crumbs as well as all those other little and big spots that really don't require the entire vacuum. I also love that it can take the stair attachment that came with my Dyson Ball vacuum. While the stair brush does not spin very fast it still picks up a ton from carpeted stairs and makes for a much easier job. As for complaints regarding the battery...I haven't had to recharge it yet and I have used it for over a month for the little jobs around the house, the stairs and the back seat of the car where the dog sits!!!

3Compact and light, but could be better...
By Eva
The main reason I wanted a cordless handheld was to clean carpeted stairs, but the suction isn't powerful enough to do a good job on this. It works `a little' if you spend a good minute or two on each step, but even the hose attachment tool on my regular upright vacuum cleaner does a MUCH better and faster job. That was a big disappointment for me.There is no bag, so the dirt/dust collects inside and can be opened to empty out. There's also a filter that can be changed. The dirt collection area is rather small, so it seemed to fill up very quickly and the filter looked clogged after using it just a few times. On the positive side, it is lightweight and very comfortable to hold. It's cordless so it's easy to use in places like a car or wherever you don't have access to an outlet. The charge seems to last a long time, so you don't have to keep recharging it after every use.If you want a small, lightweight cordless vacuum cleaner for some light cleaning jobs such as picking up dust around your floor boards, vacuuming out your car or cleaning crumbs off the furniture, this would probably work fine, but are expecting to do stairs or larger cleaning tasks, you'd be better off finding another hand vac with stronger suction power and a larger dirt collection space.

5Strong and compact
By Frances
I replaced my old handheld cleaner with this Dirt Devil. It is definitely strong and compact. Takes up half the space of my old one. I have been using it for a month and it is also easy to empty. Highly recommend. Hope the charger keeps on working in the same way, my old one would lose power after a few minutes of use.

2Will last less than a year before losing capacity
By Jonathan Birge
When you first get this, it's great, hence the many glowing reviews. However, after having this for a year, I'm disappointed to say that it's yet another example of cheap disposable junk sold to us by a company that cares more about a quick buck than making quality goods. The problem in this case is the battery, which is clearly a very low quality, low capacity NiCd battery. A charge used to last about 10 minutes, now after about one or two the vacuum quickly loses power, becoming almost useless. It's sad that our economy is becoming increasingly based on us having to rebuy the same shoddy plastic crap because nothing is made to last. I'd rather pay three times as much for a vacuum that would last. But in case anybody from Dirt Devil is listening: this is the last product I buy from you. I'm sick of throwing things in land fills because you guys think consumers are too stupid to know when we're being had.

4Generally good purchase
By C. Symons
I am sort of a gadget queen, and was enamored of the infomercials on the Black and Decker Flex that is currently being advertised. However, a little research showed that, like most hand vacs, you only get 7-8 minutes of cleaning time before the charge runs out. Moreover, once the dirt cup starts to fill on most of these machines (and the filter clogs), the suction is pretty poor. That is NOT a problem for the Scorpion. It has a long cord, and it works very well. It is noisy; so what? It's a vacuum cleaner. One source of disappointment for me was that I also ordered the little set of attachments to clean computers and electronic equipment, only to find out after they arrived that they will not fit the Scorpion. It's hard to tell that before you get them, and they are advertised as items that "others bought when they bought their Scorpions." I thought that was rather deceptive, though perhaps it was not intentionally so.

5Very high powered little vacuum!
By Jamie D.
The turbo brush head on this vacuum is great for getting pet hair off the couch!I bought this hand held vacuum primarily to use at sucking dirt and dust out of cracks and corners, and to get pet hair off of my furniture. I sweep the larger areas of my floors, so I no longer needed the big old carpet vacuum that I'd had for a while (and since I took out my carpets, all I'd use that one for was to use the hose attachment to suck up corner dust). All I wanted was something small that I could carry around to get at areas where my broom wouldn't reach. This fit the bill perfectly. The first thing I noticed when I turned this vacuum on was the power! You literally feel it jump alive when you turn it on. It is pretty loud, but I think this is a fair trade off for how powerful the suction is. I ran it lightly over my keyboard, and all the dust was instantly gone. No need to buy the keyboard attachment kit! It works fine on its own!I opted to get the spinning brush head, and I am glad I did! No more cleaning my couch over and over with a lint roller, or feebly brushing at it with the stupid brush hose attachment on my old vacuum. This little vacuum sucked most of the hair off, and the lively spinning brush made short work of anything that was left. A word of caution: if your couch has loose fabric on it like a sheet or sofa cover, the loose fabric can get sucked inside slightly and slow things down. But if you just simply pull the fabric tight and lightly run the spinning brush over it, you won't have any problems. The turbo brush attachment comes open so that you can easily untangle any long hair that might get wound around the brush. The only downsides to this vacuum is that the bagless dust collecting cup can be a little messy to empty (I just remove the whole front part, carry it to the trash, and empty it over the trash). The suction is so powerful that hair and dust is literally stuck to the filter and needs to be picked or tapped off. But, most hand held vacuums are bagless and have the same messy emptying technique. I kept this vacuum at 5 stars because the dirt emptying issue isn't THAT much of an issue, and it's one that most vacuums have anyway. The vacuum certainly makes up for it in other areas.A better cord wrap would have been nice, but the handle works well enough. I clip both ends of the shoulder strap to the back of the vacuum and then just hang it on a hook in my closet. Perfect!

4powerful small vacucm
By Jason
It's a powerful vacuum. It sucks dust and hair out of my carpet, crumbs too. It's small & convenient, I will probably use this more often than use a bulky vacuum.Keep in mind that this vacuum is design for vacuuming a small area not the whole house because the sucking hole is small and it's handheld. This little machine can not last vacuuming the whole house without overheating.I give it 4 stars because emptying the dirt cup is hell. It's bagless so you have to open it to empty. When you open it, dirt splashes everywhere. I find that all handheld vacuums are bagless. They got to think of a better way to empty it.

5Just what I was looking for
By B. Wilson
My son's dog is the ideal dog with one exception. He sheds like crazy! I can vacuum the wood floor but the furniture turns into a furry mess when he rubs against it. I've bought every gadget that I could find to try to deal with this with no avail. This vacuum pulls the hair from the fabric with little time and effort. The rubber nubs instead of bristles on the brush really do the trick. I hope that larger vacuums will follow with this concept.

3Ok power but not enough for car vacuuming
By W. L SPAKOWSKI
I'm not sorry that I purchased the vacuum but it does have it's limitations. When I tried to vacuum the floor of my car it wouldn't pick up even the tiniest pebbles or bits of gravel. It worked fine on the seats but it got hot after a while and turned itself off for about 20 minutes! I was sure that it was ruined but after 20 minutes it worked fine again. It worked great in the house on dust in those hard to vacuum areas like under the desk & behind the TV. Also worked great on shredded paper on the floor by the shredder. I'll enjoy having it for such things but I'll still be dragging out the 20 year old shop vac for the car. Oh, the special retriever head kept falling apart in my hands (not put together right at the factory). I had to figure out how to put the tiny belt on and snap it back together myself. Not the end of the world but when you take something like that out of the box you expect it to work.

5Unbelievably powerful!
By Helen Zapata
I have been learning to groom my dog, and rapidly grew tired of dragging my full sized vacuum back and forth to clean up all the hair afterwards. I decided I wanted a good, small hand vacuum to just keep in the back room. I wanted it to be powerful, corded (never met a decent rechargeable vacuum yet), and I wanted it to be very easy to empty. This little vacuum cleaner has everything I wanted! And I have to say, I cannot BELIEVE how powerful this thing is. If it were any stronger, I'd have to hold onto it with both hands! It rocks!

5Best Dustbuster Ever!
By DisneyDenizen
Our old dustbuster gave up the ghost. So I ordered a new one. It was a disaster! It had a little brush right by the opening, making it impossible to push the dustbuster both ways! I returned it and was seriously discouraged. Then I purchased this model. My daughter: "You didn't just buy A dustbuster! You bought THE dustbuster!"It is awesome. The suction power is fantastic. It is lightweight and moves easily. It has held a charge for two or three weeks despite the fact that it's being used AND hasn't been plugged in! (A neighbor is going to put it up on the wall for me, but right now the old dustbuster setup is still in that spot.)The one drawback is that it requires three hands to empty. Instead of just snapping the two main parts apart, you have to also pull out the filter because whatever you dustbusted up is on the other side of it.But that's a minor issue. If you are looking for a classic dustbuster, you will be very happy with this model.

5Lots of power!! Have to plug in for charging!
By UniversityDoc
I had an older model Dustbuster for many years; at least 10years and I loved it. When it expired, I replaced it with a Dirt Devil that was adequate, but wasn't nearly as powerful, and lasted less than four years doing the same job. I bought this one as a replacement and am pleased with its power. I use it for a quick run around to pick up cat litter in the bathroom and loose pet hair; to dust around a large kitchen, dining room and living room. It does a nice job with lots of power for the duration I need it.The wall hanger is not hooked up to the charger plug, as with its predecessor and the Dirt Devil. With this one, the wall hanger is one separate piece. You place the hanger on the wall, run a bit of section of the cord through it, hang the hand vac on it, then plug the end of the cord into the vac. Not ideal, but it does save wear and tear on the wall hanger, so it is acceptable to me.Clean up is a breeze. Take the two pieces apart, empty the filter and you're all set to go again. The instructions tell you that the first time you use it, discharge it completely in order for the battery to recharge fully and quicker from then on. It is true. The first time I used this, the first few minutes of power were strong and steady then it dwindled down to nothing. I let it run until it discharged completely, then let it charge for a full 24 hours before reusing and the powerful charge lasts for at least 15 minutes. I haven't run out of power yet while using it.A word of warning, when I bought this vac, Amazon listed a filter as being compatible, but it wasn't and I had to return it. Get the vac first, then wait until you need the filter in order to get the correct one. The manual says the normal life of the filter is 6 to 9 months use.

3Not what I expected
By Spencer Michael
I'm disappointed with this 9.6 volt Dustbuster. I ordered it as a replacement for another 9.6 volt Dustbuster which I've had for over 10 years and which now the battery won't hold a charge. The previous Dusbuster came with a wand, a stiff brush, a soft brush and an accordion type wand which was great for getting down between car seats and other tight places. Also the previous Dusbuster charged while hanging in the wall mount by way of contacts in the unit and the wall mount. This model has no attachments, and while it does come with a wall mount, it charges by plugging the cord into the unit. This means every time you use it you have to unplug the cord from the unit. With the old Dustbuster all you had to do was lift it out of the mount. If all you want is a basic vaccum with good suction and no attachments then this model is for you. By the way, the attachments from the previous Dustbuster won't fit this model.

5PROBLEM WITH BREAKING HOUSING FIXED!!!
By J. C. Laspisa
After reading some of the reviews here, I was concerned about buying this cleaner, even though it seemed to be exactly what I was looking for to replace my expired 1974 model Eureka electric broom (Brand loyalty lead me to look for another Eureka, but unfortunately, the company has been bought and sold several times, and they no longer make the quality product they did when I purchased my electric broom.) I visited my local independent vacuum dealer that I had used in the past in keeping my Eureka going all these years; and when he informed me he couldn't get the parts to rebuild the motor; I asked for his recommendation, and he endorsed the Hoover Flair. When I voiced my concern about the breaking housing, he showed me how the problem area has been reinforced - I mean the plastic tapers to 1" thick at this point. Hoover is now owned by Maytag, and they are concerned with making a quality product. Based upon that, and the strength evidenced by the thickness of the plastic in this area, I laid my fears to rest and bought the machine. The vacuum performs EXCELLENTLY on both carpet and bare floors - I like the fact there is no metal on the nozzle to scratch my hardwood floors; and it also handles cat hair and cat litter with ease.In summary, I recommend this cleaner WHOLEHEARTEDLY!!!

2Great until it fell apart
By DIYer
With new low pile carpeting (berber) and tile floors elsewhere in my home, this seemed to be the perfect solution and alternative to my trusty Kenmore. The Hoover was easy to handle, descent suction, fairly easy to empty the canister (albeit slightly messy as the dust/dirt tended to "fly" a bit), long electrical cord and an overall lightweight appliance easy enough to manage under tables and chairs and such. However, the third use resulted in a crack in the foot that attaches to the body - this resulted merely from preparing to turn off the machine - too much pressure when placed upright? One crack lead to another, then chunks flew off to the point that the bottom no longer stayed attached to the unit, no way to replace the part without replacing the entire base/foot - not cost effective and of course, past the 30 day return. If the hard plastic connection from foot to base were reinforced or if a preventive measure of duct tape or such around the connection were made I believe this minor adjustment would resolve this unfortunate complication. A call to Hoover netted "ah, sorry to hear of that, never heard of a problem like that before". I didn't know the one I bought for my sister had done the same thing until after I shared the details of my call to Hoover with her. She agrees it's a good concept, but plagued by an otherwise minor flaw.

3Decent for light use
By J. Yoon
I bought this vacuum along with another regular vacuum (eureka 480?) at the same time from amazon. The quality is not too good, but decent, but what do you expect for such a cheap cost. I paid $25 by using the gold box. It works pretty good for light use like picking up small dirt, dust, and hair from the hardwood. It works on carpet too, but since there is no real aggitator, it only does an OK job. Just surface debris. The bag system is a pretty big pain in the ***. You have to use your fingers to pull out disgusting dirt stuck to the filter. It is pretty light and glides through the floor very easily with it's rollers. This vacuum is good for when you have hardwood floors and you don't want to use the big heavy vacuum all the time. I would reccommend it to people as a secondary vacuum. Most I would pay is $30-35 for it.

4Good product
By Mary B.
Update 06/16/10=is performing consist and pick up is better than most handhelds.I previously owned a Shark 15 volt with roller brush. It is getting old so I am shifting it to car clean up only. So when I shopped for a replacement, it was down to The Euro Pro Shark 16.9 volt with motorized brush or this one. I could not find the Dirt Devil in a store to look at, but did look at the Euro Pro in the store.I purchased the Dirt Devil because it had higher volts, the crevice tool is attached, and it is supposedly easier to empty the cup. However, this DD does not have the immediate power suction my old 15 volt Shark has. You have to be more methodical about it, and run the thing slower over the areas. It picks up good though. The Euro Pro has more bristles.I like the attached crevice tool, one less thing to keep up with.I really can't see the big deal that it is easier to empty the cup.

1poor suction power
By jah006
I am really disappointed in this product. Although the vacuum sounds like it has alot of suction power, it really doesnt. I have to go over the area that i am trying to pick up some dirt several times. it almost gets to the point that it is easier to pick up or sweep up the dirt/item. This is while it is fully charged.

5Power to spare
By Michael Everett
This unit is so powerful it nearly jumps out of your hand when you hit the on button, and it leaves NOTHING behind. Picking up little crumbs and things from a carpet, it doesn't wait for the nozzle to suck it up, but starts sucking when the nozzle is about an inch away. This replaces a Dustbuster that's 20 years old. I've had an upright lightweight Dirt Devil for years that's served me well, and I'm hopeful this will do the same. I haven't used the brush yet except to see if it runs. I also haven't used it long enough to judge the endurance of the battery, but so far it's fine. Yes, it makes some noise. You can avoid the noise by getting a less powerful unit, but I think most people use cordless vacuums only a few minutes at a time, so the noise should be bearable for such brief use.

5Best cordless hand vac I have used...
    By R. Lanthier
We've all used a "dustbuster" of some kind. This item represents the best of that hand-held genre and in some ways revolutionizes it. First, is the battery pack, which is the big revolution. The inclusion of the more costly Lithium Ion battery pack does two things: 1) eliminate the memory effect of the NiCd batteries used in every other (I believe) hand vac. This means you can recharge at will and not degrade the performance of the vacuum. Also - and I am not sure whether this is a battery issue or other design innovation - the vacuum maintains its power while charged, there is none of the quick degradation in suction/performance that you are used to with your typical hand-vac. Sure it does not last forever, but remember you can throw it back on the charger at any time, and refuel with performance degradation. It is a little but large for the type of vacuum that it is, but the plusses, to me, outweigh that minus. Enjoy the new trendsetting hand vac from B&D!

5Powerful and Does a Great Job
    By Maggie Mae
This is a powerful cordless vacuum that holds a charge for a long time. I use it on my stairs and every Saturday morning when I wash my car. It's got a pretty powerful suction and it's easy as all get out to empty. I had a Dust Buster years ago and after having owned it for awhile, it hit the trash because it wasn't powerful enough. This is powerful enough. It does a great job.

    5Hello Awesomeness!!
    By Strawly
I ordered this two days ago and it just arrived today. I was hesitant about the price but decided for the 20-volt Lithium battery that I'd give it a shot. What really inspired me to try the Lithium battery was the fact that the Lithium ones won't lose their memory life when you just leave them sitting on the base charging in between uses.Seriously, how stupid is it that the regular (nickel) batteries do that?!? I mean, where are you supposed to store the thing if not on the charger and you want the thing ready to go when you need it!! Duh.This thing was ready to use straight out of the box. Heck, we hadn't even fully put it together yet and it turned on when I switched it! I ran around the house testing it out on just about everything. Why this just got 5 stars from me:*Our house was built in 1890 meaning there are LOTS of weird nooks and crannies that most things can't reach to. I love the nozzle on this thing because it reaches in those areas. = Got Em & Cleaned Em!!* We have three dogs who shed like crazy. UGH the hair!!!! The old dustbuster wouldn't pick it all up. Gave this thing a good test on a couple piles. I was worried that, with the thinner schnoz (aka nozzle) it wouldn't be able to pick it up, but it did!! = Bye Bye Doggie Hair!!*The flippy brush part is great on floor boards, door panels, tiles, and even the fire extinguisher that we have hanging on the wall gathering dust. Yes, I really did run around and test it out on all of these. = Got Em & Cleaned Em!!!*This dust buster is light! Weighs far less than my old "standard" dust buster.*Easy to empty.Even though I just got this thing, I would highly recommend it. It is awesome!!
